Leicester City Football Club

Leicester City is a side that stands out through consistency. They are among the oldest clubs in the world having been founded in 1884 as Leicester Fosse FC, named for the location of the field on which they played. They joined the Football League in 1894 and became Leicester City in 1919. That’s the way they have stayed ever since.

Their consistency comes from the fact that they have only spent a single season throughout their extensive history outside the top two divisions of English football. That foray into League One was relatively recent, having taken place during the 2008-09 season.

Of course, that is part of what makes the club’s fairytale even more impressive. Having never done better than second place in the top division in 1928-29, the Foxes went one better in the 2015-16 season when they took their place as Premier League champions. In a season that fans and neutrals alike are unlikely to forget, they triumphed over the rich and powerful to cement their legendary status.
